This beautiful stage follows the northern skyline and links the pretty towns of Popoli and Raiano. The path to the remote village of San Benedetto in Perillis is a joy – one of the finest stretches of the Ring. Though almost the longest stage, it is relatively low with steady ascents and never ventures above the trees – a welcome contrast after two days in the Morrone! Along the way, too, is the small town of Vittorito – a centre of wine making in this, the northern end of the Valley, preferred by commercial growers.
